Scindia’s son Mahanaryaman elected MP Cricket Association chief unopposed

Continuing the grip of the Scindia family on the Madhya Pradesh Cricket Association (MPCA), Mahanaryaman Scindia (29) was on Monday elected unopposed as the new President of the state’s cricket body, becoming its youngest-ever president since the MPCA’s creation in 1957.

Mahanaryaman is the son of Union Telecommunications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia, who has been the MPCA president for more than nine years in the past. Similarly, Jyotiraditya’s father and Mahanaryaman’s grandfather, late Madhav Rao Scindia, was also the MPCA president.

According to MPCA’s chief administrative officer Rohit Pandit, all posts, including president, were filled unopposed in the association’s elections. He said the newly-elected executive will be formally ratified during the annual general meeting on 2 September, after which office-bearers will assume charge.

The new executive includes Vineet Sethia as vice-president, Sudhir Asnani as secretary, Arundhati Kherkire as joint secretary and Sanjeev Dua as treasurer.

The Executive Committee members include Sandhya Agarwal, Prasoon Kanamdikar, Rajiv Risodkar and Vijesh Rana, while the cricket committee comprises Pradeep Banerjee, Ramnik Patel and Abhay Laghate.

Mahanaryaman’s clout in the state’s cricket administration has grown in the past three years. He was appointed the Vice-President of the Gwalior Division Cricket Association (GDCA) in 2022. The same year he was made a lifetime member of the MPCA.

He is also the President of the Madhya Pradesh T20 League (MPL), launched in Gwalior in 2024.
